Evaluation

My initial idea was to create a make up adverts advertising different brands of make up I originally wanted to film it in T42. I was planing on creating a cat walk in T42 and have Rosanna dress up and walk down the cat walk and advertise a make up product. After I had filmed the make up product I was going to create the other half of the advert as a spoof to show what affect make up can have on people today. I was planning on showing the good and bad side of make up and how products are made out to make you look flawless but you very rarely get what you buy. I was going to use green screen so change the background in the editing suit, I was planning on editing a catwalk entrance into the background. I would have found an image of google images to edit in and use. I struggled to film this because of the set up and my actors weren't in on the days I needed them. Instead of filming a advert last minuet I changed my idea and decided to film a selection on video vox pops. I filmed 8 people sharing their opinion on make up, I received both good and bad opinions which were all very good point. I did struggle at first to get volunteers for my video vox pops as a lot of people were camera shy, this did waste a lot of my time but luckily last minuet a couple of people offered to help. I filmed in T45, I still used the green screen so I could edit a different background in. I also used a light because the lighting in the room was very dull and I thought it would of had an effect on the final project. I placed a chair in front of the green screen and each person interviewed had to sit there and share their opinion whilst being filmed. When I uploaded all my footage I found I had to re film the first two vox pops because the tape that I used was faulty and was causing both faces to combine as well as their voices. I was unable to use T45 to re film so I used T42 instead but it made no difference, after all filming was complete I imported all my footage onto a computer in the editing suit and edited my footage. the editing went really well but I had to have assistance because I had never used the software before so I had to be taught how to use it. The only problems I had with the editing was the faces kept being pixelised so they were blending in with the background image. To fix this I just had to play around with the setting on the background image and this then made the faced look normal again. I think to improve my idea next time I should attempts to get more volunteers for more solid and better opinions. Overall although I had to change my idea I feel I still got some form of message across about make up and I still managed to show that there are both good and bad effects of make up.

After I uploaded all my footage I exported all the footage on to a disc along with some images for my background. I then imported it onto the computer in the editing suit and edited one of the images in the background of my footage which covered the green screen. It took ages for the footage to render and i had to play around with a lot of the settings because some of the interviewees heads were very pixleated. I had assistants whilst editing because I had never used the editing suit before and was un aware of how to use the software. I also had to transfer music over and cut into my project. Overall the editing went reasonably well and after i had finished i uploaded my video onto blogger.

Re filmed the begining of my video vox pops today the 6th July 2010, after filming I uploaded the footage on to my mac and edited it in with the rest of my footage. Just need to edit the background tomorrow 7th July 2010 in the editing suit.

Uploaded footage on July 2nd 2010, the begin of the footage has to be re filmed as the tape was dodgy and overlaped with other parts of the video vox pops. Managed to edit the last two minutes of the footage together properly ready to have the back ground edited in the editing suit. Arranged to re film the first minute of footage on the 6th July 2010.

Attempted to start filming the original idea but came to the conclusion it wasn't going to work and I hadn't allowed myself enough time to complete the task properly. Instead I discussed with a couple of pupils from the class to how I would keep to my topic but make it easier. I then later on decided that I was going to still have my idea based around make up. Instead I planned to produce a selection of video vox pops with girls saying what they think about make up and to also find out if they have any bad experiences with make up. I will be using green screen in the background so when it comes to editing I can change the background to loads of images of make up products and girls faces.

Plan today for the 2ND July 2010 is to start uploading all my footage and possibly start editing if there is time, Footage is pretty simple so editing wont be to difficult.

Filming was eventually started on 23 June 2010, My idea was changed last minuet as I didn't think the original idea would work. Instead of showing the make up I produced a selection of video Vox Pops with girls sharing their opinion on make up. I managed to get up to 8 girls as well as a couple of boys opinion on make up. There were all very different and good points, some were negative, positive and some were very sympathetic. Because I changed my idea I will have to re-write the shooting schedule and call sheet for the paper work. I completed all filming on Wednesday the 30Th June 2010, it was a big struggle to get girls to volunteer for the video vox pops but after a lot of persuading I managed to get enough girls. I also had a couple of boys share their opinion as make up is now offered to men. Because i wasted time trying to find people it did delay my filming by 45 minutes but I still managed to complete all work.
